Home Exercise Equipment - Stepper

A stepper does exactly what it says on the tin, it lets you climb steps without moving. Sounds like a bit of a rubbish idea and to be honest it is. Don't get me wrong some people quite like these but in my opinion these are a bit of a poor man's version of an elliptical trainer.
They always just seem like a really boring form of exercise to me, much better to start off with a cheap treadmill and bypass the stepper on your way to a elliptical trainer or rowing machine.

Home Exercise Equipment - Indoor Rowing Machines

Every gym in the world has a rowing machine in it because they provide one of the best cardiovascular workouts you will ever have. However, you will very rarely seeing anyone in the gym using the indoor rowing machine to the maximum of their ability for the simple reason that rowing machines give a brutally hard workout.
You have to be a very special sort of sadomasicist to enjoy sitting on a Rower for 20 minutes and giving it your all. For this reason I never advise someone looking for their first piece of exercise equipment to opt for one of these bad boys.
In a year's time if you feel like you have taken everything out of your treadmill that it has to give then you might want to consider one of these. Just make sure that you have tried doing a few hard workouts on one before making the purchase so you know what you are letting yourself in for.

Home Exercise Equipment - Treadmills

As most people who make a home exercise equipment purchase have little idea what they really want when the decide to pick a fitness machine it can be hard to give helpful advice unless you actually get them to try the machines out for themselves.

Having said that there are definitely exercise machines which are more suited to beginners than others. The treadmill is a device that fits into this category. Easier to use than any other equipment the treadmill exercises a movement which we all do everyday, namely walking or running. This makes the treadmill easy to get used to and also means there is a crossover benefit as you get fitter on the treadmill you will really notice a fitness improvement in your every day life.

Although treadmills are thought of as expensive machines you will find that there are now many inexpensive treadmills available from many of the online retailers. Failing that you could always try and pick up one of the many rarely used second hand models which are lying around.

Finding home exercise equipment

These days the only hard part about getting home exercise equipment is deciding which type suits your needs the best. There is such a huge range of exercise equipment retailers both online and in the real world that finding someone to sell you a machine is never a problem.
Trying to make up your mind what exercise machine to get is especially tricky if you have never been in the market for a fitness product before. There is a bewildering array of machines some of which look more like torture devices than recreational equipment. The truth is that if you make a bad decision you could well feel like you have bought torture device when you get it home and try it out.
Seek out advice from those who are expert users of fitness equipment before you even set foot in the premises of a fitness retailer. Salesmen will be far more interested in taking your money than giving you any helpful advice on what exercise equipment is right for you.
